About HFCC

A carer-valued community organisation

Supporting Hackney foster carers. Strengthening the team around every child.

Hackney Foster Carers' Council

Who we are

The Hackney Foster Carers' Council (HFCC) is an independent, child-centred, carer-valued community organisation. We exist to support Hackney's foster carers and to strengthen the team around every child - through peer support, training, resources and advocacy.

What HFCC is - and isn't

  • HFCC is a community organisation working alongside Hackney Council.
  • HFCC is not Hackney Council, a fostering agency, regulator, legal or clinical service, payment authority, or a replacement for Council social work.
  • HFCC does not claim Council endorsement without written permission.

Our promise

“Supporting Hackney foster carers. Strengthening the team around every child.”

What we do

  • Bring foster carers, social workers and partners together through joint training.
  • Signpost to approved HFCC, Hackney Council, GOV.UK and sector guidance.
  • Offer peer support and a collective voice for carers.
  • Issue participant-specific certificates of attendance with public verification.

Our relationship with Hackney

We work alongside Hackney Council. The Council assesses and approves carers, places children, and pays allowances. HFCC complements that work by supporting carers directly. Read more on our relationship with Hackney page.
