Support & Advocacy

Peer support and a voice for carers

Foster carers shouldn't do this alone. HFCC offers connection, signposting and a collective voice within the team around every child.

If a child is at risk

Support & advocacy is not an emergency route. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. For safeguarding concerns, contact Hackney Council's Children's Social Care. See our Safeguarding page.

What support looks like

  • Peer connection - linking with other approved Hackney foster carers.
  • Signposting - clear routes to approved guidance and Council services.
  • Listening - a space to be heard by people who understand caring.
  • Advocacy - raising the carer voice within the team around the child.

What advocacy is - and isn't

  • Is: representing carer experience and perspective collectively.
  • Isn't: legal advice, clinical support, or a replacement for Council social work.

How to ask for support

Email HFCC, or use the Contact page to request a callback. We'll ask only for the minimum contact detail needed - never child names or case information.
